Kowloon Marine Lots Nos. 29, 30, and 31.

Referring to the letter of the 30th. ultimo signed by yourselves and Messrs. Ewens and Harston and Deacon, Looker and Deacon on behalf of all the owners of the premises fronting Reclamation Street, Yaumati (other than Mr. M. J. D. Stephens omer of los. 132, 134 and 136) I am directed to point out that under Section 12 of Ordinance 39 of 1909 your clients' claims should be limited to the injurious affecting of their property (if any) by reason of its access to the sea being interfered with by the works authorised by Ordinance No. 39 of 1909, and that no other claims can be recognised by the Govern- -ment.

I am to request therefore that you will deliver amended claims limited as indicated above, and that you will state in such amended claims the name and address of each claimant and the amount claimed by him, the property in respect of which each clain is made, giving area, frontage, number of section and sub-section and of the houses erected thereon.

In connection with your reference to alter- -ation of levels I may point out that Reclamation Street has al- -ready been raised to the levels which were fixed in 1907 and a number of new houses have been erected by some of your clients conforming to the new levels; it is not intended to make any further alteration in the levels of this street.

I am etc.,

(Sd.) F. H. Hay,

Colonial Secretary.

Messrs. Wilkinson and Grist.
